Happenings during Lent....

9.00am St Thomas’ Mooloolah

10.30am and 7.00pm St Andrew’s Caloundra

Giving you the opportunity to receive the Imposition of Ashes - a sign of both mortality and sorrow for sins.

This is a powerful day, which sets the tone for the forty days of Lent which follow.

Personal and Group Lent Study Groups

The Parish we will be using a resource called “Live Lent: Let Your Light Shine” booklet from the Church of England.

This will help us answer two questions:

  • How can I receive God’s life more fully?
  • How can I live God’s life more generously, imaginatively and joyfully, in such a way that others can see it, hear it and take hold of it themselves?
  • There are two components to this, and you can participate in either or both, as you are able:

    * Read through St John’s gospel, in daily portions from Ash Wednesday to Easter Day, with the aid of a booklet containing a short reflection on each passage and an invitation to pray and to respond. These booklets are available at a cost of $8 (which is cost price with postage) If finances are an issue, please speak confidentially to Rector Julie.

    * Join a weekly Lent group, where there will be an opportunity to discuss the weekly themes of Change, Bread, Light, Life and Leaving. The Sunday sermons will also follow these themes.

    Groups will meet this year:

Wednesday morning, 11.15am-12.30pm (after the Eucharist), at St Andrew's Church facilitated by Deacon Di and Aaron Coates

Wednesday evening, 4.00-5.00pm in Golden Beach, facilitated by Jenny Moody

Wednesday evening, 7.30pm-9.00pm in the Beerwah area, facilitated by Deacon Timothy

Thursday evening, 7.30-9.30pm in the Little Mountain area, facilitated by Jean Ward

If you are interested in being part of a study group or hosting a group

please email Julie rector@cgca.com.au

Praying in Anglican Ways.

This is a practical workshop about forms of Anglican spirituality and prayer, which we will be running on Saturday 10th March from 9am-4pm at St Andrew’s.

Written by Revs Penny Jones and Jo Inkpin at St Francis College, this workshop enables us to ponder our own spirituality and the methods of prayer and worship. Discover deep Anglican wells of spiritual practice that provide resources for faith today and enhance relationships with God. In this workshop, we will:

Explore ideas about spirituality.  Just what is it anyway?  Think about the Anglican forms of spirituality

  • Examine our own spirituality towards identifying a helpful life-enhancing profile
  • Learn about the history and form of Anglican spiritualities that have enlivened our church, as well as individuals/groups associated with them
  • Have a chance to practice different forms of prayer and worship associated with these Anglican spiritualities
  • Come to value the enormous breadth of spiritual resources available to us in the Anglican Church
  • Think about developing a 'rule of life' to enhance our faith formation into the future

We hope to run the Bible360 introduction to the Bible workshop later in the year.
