St Andrew’s Care is funded by the State and Federal Government to provide assistance for frail aged and younger disabled persons living independently in their own homes. The St Andrew’s Care program delivers a range of services to assist with home maintenance and also complete minor modifications to assist with safety and accessibility.
These services include:
Air Conditioners: Service and minor repairs to split system models and ducted.
Anti-Slip Treatment: Treatment on tiles to prevent slips and falls.
Appliance Repairs: Washing machines, stoves, refrigerators, clothes dryers, dish washers and deep freezers. We do not repair small electrical appliances.
Cleaning / Carpets: Ovens, carpets, ceiling and exhaust fans.
Electrician: Changing light bulbs and smoke alarm batteries, repairing faulty power points and lights, replacing broken electrical plugs and light fittings, installing sensor lights.
Gardening Program: Mowing and gardening services.
Gas Fitter: Repairs, service & installation of gas appliances.
Glass Repairs: Replace broken windows or glass doors.
Key Safes: Secure number coded wall safe for house keys.
Locksmith: Replacing broken or lost keys, replacing damaged locks.
Minor Tiling: Minor repairs or replacing tiles and grouting.
Pest Control: Cockroaches, silverfish, spiders etc. Termite inspections.
Plumber: Leaking taps, toilet repairs, replacing broken taps, fitting water filters to taps and any other minor plumbing jobs.
Pressure Cleaning: Driveways, patios and paths to prevent a slip/fall.
Roof & Gutters: Minor repairs to tile and colour bond roofs and guttering plus replacement of small sections of guttering. Gutter cleans on single storey homes.
Security Screens: Replacing rollers, screens, other minor repairs.
Shower Doors: Repair or replacement of faulty shower screen doors.
Window Cleaning: Cleaning inside & out, tracks & flyscreens.
Minor Maintenance: General repairs in and around the home, i.e. loose door hinges, broken steps, curtain brackets etc.
Minor Modifications: Installation of grab rails, fabricated rails, ramps, chair and bed raisers, shower modifications.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible for assistance you must be a home owner and live in the home as your main residence or live in rental housing and be in the target group of:
- Frail aged 65 years and over or
- Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander 50 years and over or
- A person under 65 years with a disability or a carer of any of these target groups.
If you are interested in becoming a client of St. Andrew’s Care and you are 65 years of age or older, you must first register with My Aged Care on 1800 200 422. You will need your Medicare Card with you when you make the phone call. When the face to face interview happens, please inform the assessor that you would like St. Andrew’s Care to do your home maintenance. They will forward your assessment to our agency and we will make contact with you and from then on, you will be a client and able to take advantage of our services.
